Before Sondera 1974 became the blend of leather goods, slow gatherings, and wine experiences you know today, it began as 1974 Leather.
After over a decade of working with leather, I felt the pull to reimagine my work. In early 2022, during a quiet holiday break, the ideas started flowing. I was binge-watching American Pickers and That 70’s Show, sipping a margarita, and not overthinking anything. Then, after seeing an old leather license plate... the name and the logo just came together. Not too long after that, the designs and the stories all merged, like the best Marg + Taco night ever. Funky combo, right? But inspiration tends to find me in unexpected places.
The Origins of the River Collection
That’s when The River Collection was born, anchored by one defining piece: The Savannah River Hobo Tote. Crafted from rich, Tuscan-Italian vegetable-tanned leather with raw, undulating edges that echoed a riverbank, it became a visual and emotional touchstone for the brand. Smooth yet textured. Luxurious yet worn. And always with a lived-in aesthetic that feels both indie and timeless.
