Sondera comes from ‘sonder,’ which is the quiet kind of awe that hits you when you realize everyone around you is living a life as intricate and vivid as your own. I added ‘1974’ as a tether to my own story. This brand is about that intersection—where timeworn materials and intentional making meet the messy, beautiful texture of people’s lives.

My work is not just about leather—it’s about the weight of history in every fold, the patina of time, and the soul of handmade craftsmanship. Every piece is small-batch, touched by hand, and imbued with the kind of character that can’t be rushed. Rooted in the textures of the Southwest, the indie spirit of artistry, and the rare beauty of the well-worn, Sondera 1974 exists for those who seek objects with meaning.

about Beth

I’ve always believed that making accessories was woven into my DNA—but leather found me. I fell in love with its textures, raw edges, and organic shapes. I love that it doesn’t need to be perfect. It can be what it wants to be—flawed, soulful, and full of story.

For over 30 years, I’ve explored art and design in many forms. I studied black-and-white photography in Orlando, earned a degree in Display & Exhibit Design at the Fashion Institute in NYC, and later a BFA in Graphic Design from Georgia Southern. Each step, each city, each encounter shaped me—and led to Sondera 1974.

The journey keeps evolving. In April 2025, I became a Certified Sommelier after two years of wine study—another layer to this textured life I’m building.

My dream has always been to create a space where you can experience this work in person. A brick-and-mortar rooted in leather, art, wine, and community is finally on the horizon.

What I love most is how these functional pieces of art move from my hands to yours, becoming part of your story—gaining beauty, character, and meaning over time. That’s the magic. And I’m so grateful you’re bringing Sondera 1974 along for the ride.
